I teach from my garden studio in Avening, which provides a wonderful, calm and comfortable place to learn. When not tutoring, I can mostly be found either pottering in my garden, walking my two rescue dogs or creating lino prints.
A bit about me!
I first taught for 17 years in the state primary school sector, which included teaching classes from Reception to Year 6. I have been the Head of Maths, Science, Geography and Art in these primary schools. Also during these years, I tutored students for the Year 6 SAT's exams, and at the same time began offering private tuition for the 11+ Grammar School Admissions Test. My love of maths then led me onwards to the secondary sector, where I taught KS3 and KS4 and GCSE Maths. For the last six years I have worked at a local prestigious Prep School, including being the Head of the Maths Department, teaching Maths to children from Year 1 all the way up to the Year 8 Scholars applying to Radley, Eton, Cheltenham and Marlborough colleges to name a few.
Nothing compares to the wonder and joy of one-to-one tuition, so I decided to extend my tutoring services to become a full-time professional tutor. My teaching is centred around three core skills for being a successful learner: self-belief, resilience and joy. Having self-belief enables learners to gain from each step on the learning journey and achieve competence in a subject. Being resilient is about taking on challenges and not being afraid to take risks to reach their goals. And joy makes happy, willing learners who are keen to succeed.
I specialise in tutoring for both the 11+ Grammar Schools Admission Test and for Maths in KS3 and GCSE. I can also offer tutoring for KS2, the KS2 SATs exams, the ISEB pretests, the ISEB 13+ Common Entrance and for School's Entrance Tests for the Independent Sector.
